Brett Diment

Head of Emerging Markets Debt

Brett Diment is the Head of Emerging Markets Debt. Brett joined Aberdeen via the acquisition of Deutsche Asset Management's London and Philadelphia fixed income businesses in 2005, where he held the same role since 1999. Brett joined Deutsche Asset Management in 1991 as a graduate and began researching emerging markets in 1995. Brett graduated with a BSc from the London School of Economics.

Kenneth Akintewe

Senior Investment Manager

Kenneth is a senior investment manager on the Fixed Income - Asia Pacific desk. Kenneth joined Aberdeen in 2002, working first on the global equities desk in Glasgow before moving to the global fixed income team in London in 2003. In his role as assistant fund manager he transferred to Aberdeen's Singapore office in 2004 to facilitate the incorporation of Asian fixed income into global bond portfolios, before joining the Asian fixed income team in 2005 to focus on Asian local currency interest rate and foreign exchange strategy. Kenneth holds an MA in Economics and an MSc in International Banking and Financial Studies from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.

Edwin Gutierrez

Head of Emerging Market Sovereign Debt

Edwin Gutierrez is the Head of Emerging Market Sovereign Debt. Edwin joined Aberdeen via the acquisition of Deutsche Asset Management's London and Philadelphia fixed income businesses in 2005, where he held the same role since joining Deutsche in 2000. Edwin joined Deutsche Asset Management from Invesco Asset Management where he was an emerging debt portfolio manager. Prior to that, Edwin was a Latin American economist at LGT Asset Management. Edwin graduated with an MS in International Affairs from Georgetown University and BA in International Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.

Siddharth Dahiya

Head of Emerging Market Corporate Debt

Siddharth Dahiya is the Head of Emerging Market Corporate Debt. Sid joined Aberdeen in June 2010 and initially worked as a Credit Risk Analyst for the Counterparty Risk team. Previously, Sid worked for four years at ICICI Bank UK PLC in London. He was part of the Treasury Investment team focusing on Indian bond investments. He started his career at ICICI with the Corporate Finance team focusing on cross-border M&A. Sid completed a post-graduate degree in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow in 2006. Prior to that he completed a Bachelors degree (Hons) in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, India. He is a CFA® Charterholder.

Max Wolman

Senior Investment Manager

Max Wolman is a Senior Investment Manager on the EMD team. Max joined Aberdeen in 2001, from Liontrust Asset Management, initially covering FX dealing at Aberdeen. In 2003 he joined the EMD team bringing his knowledge of currencies to help analysis local EM markets. He has since covered EM corporates and helped launch Aberdeen’s EM corporate strategy, offering a top down view when investing in the asset class. Max graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business and Hospitality Management from Leeds University and he has a Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of London.

Viktor Szabó

Senior Investment Manager

Viktor Szabó is a Senior Investment Manager on the EMD team. Viktor joined Aberdeen via the acquisition of certain asset management businesses from Credit Suisse Asset Management in 2009. Previously, Viktor worked for Credit Suisse Asset Management Hungary as country Chief Investment Officer. Prior to that, Viktor worked for the National Bank of Hungary as the Head of Market Analysis team. Viktor graduated with an MSc in Economics from the Corvinus University of Budapest. Viktor is a CFA® Charterholder.

Kevin Daly

Senior Investment Manager

Kevin Daly is a Senior Investment Manager on the EMD team. Kevin joined Aberdeen in April 2007 having spent the previous ten years at Standard & Poor's in London and Singapore. During that time Kevin worked as a Credit Market Analyst covering global emerging debt, and was Head of Origination for Global Sovereign Ratings. Kevin was a regular participant on the Global Sovereign Ratings Committee, and was one of the initial members of the Emerging Market Council, formed in 2006 to advise senior management on business and market developments in emerging markets. Kevin graduated with a BA in English Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Patty Cao

Research Analyst

Patty Cao is a Research Analyst on the EMD team, where she covers a range of frontier markets including Angola, Gabon, Sri Lanka, Paraguay, Bolivia, etc. Patty joined the Aberdeen graduate scheme in 2012, completing placements in Philadelphia, London, Singapore and Sao Paulo. Previously, Patty interned full-time for Morgan Stanley in Shanghai. Patty graduated with a Master’s degree in International Business from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She holds a BA in Economics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Patty passed all three levels of the CFA® Programme in June 2014, and may be awarded the charter upon completion of the required work experience.

Cecely Hugh

Credit Research Analyst

Cecely Hugh is a Credit Research Analyst in the Emerging Markets Debt team. Cecely has experience in a wide range of finance transactions including high yield bonds within emerging markets and EMEA. In her role, she is responsible for assisting the fixed income team in various capacities with a dominant focus on advising on the legal aspects of emerging market credits. Cecely joined Aberdeen in 2014 from Herbert Smith Freehills where she has worked for five years as a Senior Associate in the banking and finance team in Hong Kong where she has represented banks and other financial institutions, public and private companies, funds, governments and government owned entities in banking and debt capital markets transactions, including syndicated loans, structured finance and asset-backed securities. Previously, Cecely worked for Clifford Chance LLP as an Associate in the capital markets department and has worked in their Tokyo office too.

Cecely graduated with a LLB in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also a qualified solicitor of England and Wales and Hong Kong.

Paul Lukaszewski

Investment Manager

Paul Lukaszewski is an Investment Manager on the EMD team. Paul joined Aberdeen via the acquisition of SWIP in 2014 where he was a Credit Analyst on the High Yield team in New York. Previously, Paul worked for three years for Brownstone Asset Management, a specialist US High Yield and distressed debt hedge fund in New York. Prior to this, Paul worked for another hedge fund, Claren Road, for over one year after having been at Barclays Capital working in their proprietary distressed debt and special situations group for the previous five years. Paul has degrees in Accounting and International Business from Loyola Marymount University and an MBA from Yale University.

Anthony Simond

Research Analyst

Anthony Simond is a Research Analyst on the EMD team, where he covers a range of frontier markets including Belarus, Georgia, Serbia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Egypt and Ecuador. Anthony joined the Aberdeen graduate scheme in 2008, completing placements in different areas of the business including the Pan European equities and Global equities team, before joining the EMD team in 2009. Anthony graduated with a BA (Honours) in Classics from the University of Bristol.

Kathy Collins

Research Analyst

Kathy Collins is a Research Analyst on the EMD team where she covers a broad range of credits in CEEMEA and Latam including HY energy names, Ukrainian corporates as well as Russian and Nigerian banks. Kathy joined the EMD team after completing the graduate scheme at Aberdeen. Prior to this, she spent a year at Standard Chartered Private Bank, New York as part of the Mountbatten Internship Programme. Kathy graduated with a BSc in Economics from St. Andrews University. She is a CFA Charterholder.

Thu Ha Chow

Head of Asian Credit

Thu Ha Chow is the Head of Asian Credit for Aberdeen Asset Management, based in Singapore. She has 18 years of experience in both Emerging and Developed markets. She joined Aberdeen in 2006 in London and transferred to the Asian fixed income team in 2012. Previously she was a Director at Deutsche Asset Management. Prior to that she was Credit Portfolio Manager at Threadneedle Asset Management and started her career at Credit Suisse in the corporate finance division. Thu Ha has a BSc (Econ) and an MSc (Econ) in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Debora Confortini

Research Analyst

Debora Confortini is a Research Analyst on the EMD team, where she covers corporate credits. Debora joined Aberdeen in 2012 from Standard & Poor’s Ratings Service where she was a Ratings Specialist. Debora graduated with a BA in Accounting & Finance from the University of São Paulo.

Stephen Fang

Head of Global Restructuring and Insolvency

Stephen Fang joined Aberdeen in 2012 and is Head of Global Restructuring and Insolvency on the Euro High Yield Team. He concentrates on managing and overseeing credits across the Fixed Income portfolios in Europe, Asia, US and Emerging Markets. Stephen has represented and advised commercial and investment banks, investment funds and corporates for over 10 years in matters relating to construction and project financings, mergers and acquisitions and domestic and cross-border financings and workouts. Prior to joining Aberdeen, Stephen worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (London and Shanghai), Bingham McCutchen (London) and Clayton Utz (Sydney) in their Banking, Financial Restructuring and Corporate teams and is a qualified solicitor in both England and NSW Australia.

Stephen holds degrees in Economics and Law having studied at NYU, Columbia and The University of Sydney.

Steven Nicholls

Global Distribution

Steven Nicholls is a senior member of Aberdeen’s Global Distribution team and is based in London. Steven is a fixed income specialist and has been responsible for leading the Product Specialist team, who are responsible for promoting Aberdeen's fixed income investment strategies globally.

Steven is close to completing a 12 month secondment advising the Distribution teams in the Firm’s offices in the Americas. Steven joined Aberdeen in 2011 from PIMCO, where he worked for over six years heading up the UK Institutional client service team, in London. Previously, Steven spent twenty-one years at UBS Global Asset Management, initially as a portfolio manager with day-to-day responsibility for managing UK and Global bond portfolios and then managing client relationships, and business development.

Steven has over 32 year’s investment experience and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
