Minister of Finance, Turkey
Minister Şimşek was appointed as the Minister of Finance in May 2009, after serving as the Minister of Economy for close to two years. Minister Şimşek formulated the fiscal policy that helped Turkey recover strongly from the global financial crisis. He has also undertaken far reaching reforms founding the Tax Audit Board, simplifying tax regulations, enhancing taxpayers’ rights and reducing the shadow economy. He was elected to the Parliament in July 2007 and June 2011, representing the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
Minister Şimşek has been awarded "Finance Minister of the Year for Emerging Europe 2013" by Emerging Markets Magazine and was also nominated as one of the 500 most powerful people on the planet by Foreign Policy in 2013.
Before entering politics, he worked for Merrill Lynch in London for seven years as chief economist and strategist for emerging EMEA. From 1998 to 2000, he was a senior economist and bank analyst at Deutsche Securities. Earlier in his career, he worked for UBS Securities in New York (1997) and as a senior economist at the US Embassy in Ankara (1993-97).
Minister Şimşek holds a B.S. in Economics from Ankara University. He subsequently obtained an M.Phil. in Finance and Investment, having been awarded a State Scholarship to Exeter University, UK.
Professor Sir Paul Collier CBE
Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Oxford University
Paul Collier is one of the world's leading experts on developing markets and financial opportunities within the world’s poorest countries.
Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Oxford University, Paul is currently Advisor to the Strategy and Policy Department of the International Monetary Fund, and advisor to the Africa Region of the World Bank. He previously served as Director of the Development Research Group at the World Bank, and as advisor to the British Government on economic development policy.
Hailed by the likes of Bill Clinton and George Soros, Paul is a regular contributor to publications including The New York Times, Financial Times, the Independent, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. Former Prime Minister of Georgia from 2009 to 2012
Nika Gilauri was Prime Minister of Georgia from 2009 to 2012, having served in the government in numerous ministerial roles from 2004. He was part of the team which initiated significant economic reforms in the country, including anti-corruption, energy, tax administration and business climate. As a result of these reforms Georgia’s ranking in the World Bank’s annual Doing Business rankings improved from 98th in 2006 to 15th in 2015. Mr Gilauri now runs an advisory boutique for public sector decision makers and is a senior advisor at McKinsey & Co.
Professor Anil K. Gupta
Strategy, emerging markets and globalisation expert
Anil K. Gupta is a respected expert on strategy, emerging markets and globalisation. Widely published in business and academic areas, Anil is recognised as a leading authority on Asia and the Middle East.
An impressive list of professional and academic positions include posts at the University of Maryland, INSEAD, The China India Institute, and Stanford University. He is also a Lifetime Fellow of both the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management, and the Academy of International Business. He has also served on the boards of companies in the technology, pharmaceutical and investments areas.
Anil regularly addresses the World Economic Forum and is a member of the organisation’s Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals. He writes articles and columns for, amongst others, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, China Daily, The Washington Post and Forbes magazine. He is a regular commentator on the BBC, CNBC, and CCTV China.
Along with dozens of academic articles on emerging market strategy and global business, Anil is the author of a number of books including Global Strategies for Emerging Asia, Getting China and India Right, The Quest for Global Dominance, and Global Strategy and Organisation.
Luciano Siani Pires
Chief Financial Officer, Vale
Luciano Siani Pires was appointed Vale's Chief Financial Officer in August 2012. Before this, from 2008 to July 2012, he held the positions of global director of Strategic Planning and global director of Human Resources and Governance at the company.
He has extensive professional experience in the areas of finance, capital markets and strategic planning. In 2007 and 2008, he was chief of Staff and executive secretary to the president at Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES), where he previously worked from 2005 and 2006 as chief of the Holding Management Department (Capital Markets), and head of the Export Finance Department in 2001 and 2002. Also at BNDES, between 1992 and 1999 he held positions in the areas of financial planning, investor relations and capital markets. For two years, from 2003 to 2005, he worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company, focusing on the basic materials sector.
Luciano Siani has served on the boards of Tele Norte Leste (Telemar), Suzano Bahia Sul Papel e Celulose, and Vale/Valepar.
He has also taught for MBA programs at COPPEAD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Luciano Siani has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and a MBA, with a finance specialization, from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University.
Eric de Beauchamp
Chief Financial Officer, Credit Bank of Moscow
Eric de Beauchamp started his career in 1999 in Alcatel Network Systems (Ukraine) as Financial Controller and reached the position of Chief Financial Officer in 2001. In 2003, he moved to the position of International Treasury Manager in Alcatel HQ in Paris. From 2004 to 2008, he served as the Head of Financial Control Department of Rusfinance Bank (Societe Generale Group) in Moscow, and then, from 2008 to 2011, he held the office of General Director in Banque Accord (Auchan Group), Moscow. From 2012 and until joining Credit Bank of Moscow in June 2013 as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. de Beauchamp was Chief Financial Officer of Orient Express Bank, Moscow.
Mr. de Beauchamp holds a university degree of Economics (Banking and Insurance), bachelor’s degree of Economics specialized in Economic Studies and Business Strategies and a Master of International Business at Paris-IX Dauphine University. He is married with one daughter.
Group Chief Financial Officer, DP World
Mr Yuvraj Narayan is Group Chief Financial Officer of DP World, formed in 2005 as a result of the merger of Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), Dubai Ports International (DPI) and CSX World Terminals. In 2006 DP World acquired P&O Steam Navigation Company to emerge as the 4th largest Container Terminal Operator in the World.
Mr Narayan is a qualified Chartered Accountant with more than 28 years’ experience in the ports and international banking sectors.
In April 2004, Mr Narayan joined DP World, bringing a wealth of experience to its multinational management. As CFO, he was instrumental in the planning and execution of DP World strategy to establish itself as a global port operator and oversaw the launch of DP World’s international initial public offering (IPO), the largest in the Middle East. He also led a successful international Islamic and conventional bond issue. He was also instrumental in DP World’s recent acquisition of Economic Zones World FZE (EZW), the operator of Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone, creating the leading integrated port and free zone in the Middle East region.
Executive Director/Vice President of Future Land Development
Mr. Chan Wai Kin (“Mr. Chan”) was appointed Executive Director at Future Land Holdings Limited in March 2015. Prior to this and since February 2014, Mr. Chan served as the Chief Financial Officer, the Company Secretary, and the authorized representative of Times Property Holdings Ltd. (“Times Property”), a company incorporated in the Cayman Islands and the issued shares of which are listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange (Stock Code: 1233). During this period, Mr. Chan was mainly responsible for financial reporting and investors related matters. Mr. Chan also served as the Executive Director, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Company Secretary of Golden Wheel Tiandi Holdings Company Limited (“Golden Wheel”), a company incorporated in the Cayman Islands and the issued shares of which are listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange (Stock Code: 1232), from April 2012 to September 2013. During this period, Mr. Chan was mainly responsible for overseeing the financial management and regulatory compliance. Mr. Chan served as the non-executive director of Golden Wheel from 27 September 2013 to 28 February 2014. He worked as an auditor at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu from December 2005 to August 2010, and an auditor manager at KPMG from August 2010 to October 2011.
